Beats has launched its new Solo 4 headphones, an upgrade from the popular line up of on-ear wireless headphones.

It has been eight years since Apple created the fan-favourite Solo 3 and the new wireless cans have an increased battery life and additional features that elevate fans' overall audio experience.

The Beats Solo 4 also gets four new exciting colours, in Matte Black, Slate Blue and Cloud Pink, for £199.95. Music fans can buy them from Apple website, John Lewis and Argos.

You can also purchase a pair from Currys and Very at a slightly cheaper price as they retail it for £199.

It does not require any battery if you plug in a cable to your phone or laptop

The Beats Solo 4 is great for everything throughout the day - for commute, at work, for exercise, and travel. And you can listen to music and podcasts for up to 50 hours. When the battery runs low, a quick 10-minute charge gives you a powerful five hours of listening time.

Don't worry if you don't have a charger with you, the pack includes a 3.5mm cable that allows you to plug in and connect to your phone or laptop for an absolute battery-free playback with zero impact to audio quality. This is particularly handy if you don't want to carry an extra charger with you.

As other Beats headphones like their flagship Beats Studio Pro, the Solo 4 folds down into a nicely small package and fits nicely in the soft material carry case.

What's impressive is the new custom-built 40mm transducers, it improves frequency response for extraordinary clarity and range while minimising distortion so fans can enjoy the rich sound in an isolated environment despite the lack of active noise cancellation (ANC).

The new personalised spatial audio with dynamic head tracking can create an immersive experience (that's like being surrounded by 64 speakers at once). It's definitely an upgrade from the Solo 3 but the hinge still traps hair occasionally.

Staying true to the brand's bold logo, the 'b' on the earmuffs is visible to viewers and it also works as a control button to manage music, take calls and activate your voice assistant.

Weighed only 217 grams, the Beats Solo 4 is lighter than it sounds that you can almost forget you're wearing them. It doesn't cover your ears completely but the UltraPlush ear cusions are comrfortable to wear with good grip.

If you are looking for ANC-equipped headphones, Sony's WH-1000XM5 is one of the top-notch cans in the market and it's been reduced from £315 to £293 (in black colour) or £299 (in white or navy).

JLab recently launched a Studio Pro ANC Over Ear Wireless Headphones that neutralise unwanted noise, allowing users to stay focused and immersed wherever they go. Originally listed for £99.99, but you can save £20 when buying on Very.
