Kaye Adams reveals emotional struggle with first Christmas after dad's death
Loose Women's Kaye Adams has opened up about her grief in the lead up to Christmas, as she discussed how she had to 'reinvent' the festive season after losing a parent
Loose Women's Kaye Adams confessed she was forced to "reinvent" Christmas after the loss of her parents in a deeply personal revelation.
During an emotion-charged chat on ITV's Loose Women with colleagues Frankie Bridge, Kelly Brook and Kelle Bryan, the conversation turned to dealing with loss during the festive season.
Kaye, 61, shared her poignant story of grief, speaking on Wednesday (December 4), she described how the first yuletide without her dad was akin to "sleep walking".
She confided: "I think you kind of have to reinvent it. Like similar to you, I've lost both my mum and my dad, and Christmas was always, always at their house. The first one after my dad died, we just kind of slept walked through it.
"We went through the motions. We were kind of anaesthetised to the whole thing. You did it , because it felt like a big thing to ignore it, but like I say, we were sleep walking. But in the years since, you've just got to reinvent it. Because it was so much associated with them. For us, we just had to have a different thing," an emotional Kaye added.
To lighten the mood, the Loose Women team welcomed cheeky TV chef Gino D'Acampo onto the show, who stirred things up promoting his latest cookbook and dropping a rather 'awkward' comment about on-screen 'kiss rules', reports the Mirror.
Moments after joining the panel, Gino sparked a reaction by greeting each presenter with a kiss on the cheek. He revealed that he had been instructed not to do so, saying: "They told me 'please don't kiss the ladies on the table' but what kind of Italian would come on the show without kissing the ladies. The rules are rubbish."
The panellists laughed off the comment, with Kelly joking that Gino might have just gotten himself fired. Gino seemed perplexed, asking: "What, for a kiss?"
Viewers quickly took to social media to share their reactions, with one commenting on X (formerly Twitter): "That was very awkward.... #loosewomen Frankie looked uncomfortable."
Another noted: "#loosewomen Gino being so careful with his innuendo today." Some people expressed concern that Gino might face backlash, with one writing: "Careful Gino they'll be wanting to cancel you. #loosewomen."
Meanwhile, another viewer questioned the authenticity of Gino's claim, asking: "Do you really think they told him not to kiss them? #Loosewomen."
