A crash on the M25 resulted in lane closures and delays near Godstone today (December 31). The collision happened on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 6 for Godstone and Junction 5 for the M26 and Chipstead.

National Highways said a car had collided with the central reservation barrier. Two lanes of four were closed while the incident was responded to, with traffic having been previously held at around 11.20am.

There were delays on approach as motorists were contending with queues of around three miles. Traffic cameras in the area showed long queues in the area.

Traffic maps show that congestion is now beginning to ease on the M25 anticlockwise between Junctions 6 and 5 following the earlier crash. Two lanes of four currently remain closed and National Highways estimates that normal travel conditions will resume later this afternoon at around 3pm.
