9th Corrigenda for the 2006 IPCC Guidelines
- In Volume 5, Chapter 4, page 4.4, the text "see
example in Box 3.1" in paragraph 7 should be changed to "see example in Box 2.1"..
- In Volume 5, Chapter 4, page 4.6, Table 4.1, the
following note should be added: "Default emission factors for CH4
for anaerobic digestion already account for CH4 recovery".
- In Volume 5, Chapter 4, page 4.6, Table 4.1, the
default emission factor for N2O on a wet weight basis for composting
should be 0.24 instead of 0.3 and the default emission factor for CH4 on
a wet weight basis for anaerobic digestion should be 0.8 instead of 1.
- In Volume 3, in the "Instructions" sheet of the MS-Excel
spreadsheets for Categories 2.F.1 "Refrigeration and Air Conditioning", the
sentence "This spreadsheet implements the simple Tier 1 methods for estimating
emissions from fire protection of substitutes for ozone depleting substances."
should be replaced by "This spreadsheet implements the simple Tier 1 methods
for estimating emissions from refrigeration and air conditioning of substitutes
for ozone depleting substances."
-
In Volume 3, in the "Calc" sheet of the MS-Excel
spreadsheets for Categories 2.F.1 "Refrigeration and Air Conditioning", the
embedded equations do not ensure that mass balance of agent is maintained. In
some cases, this sheet yields negative values for bank and emissions, which is
impossible. This is because the effect of servicing (refilling) of equipment is
not properly taken into account, and because the calculation of bank in the row
41 is not correct. In order to correct these errors, equations in the rows 37
and 41 should be modified and the rows 45-47 should be added in accordance with
the following assumptions.
- Servicing will take place every year, commencing
after three years since manufacture of the equipment. The equipment will not be
refilled for the first three years since manufacture, as stated in Chapter 7 in
Volume 3 of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.
- When the total amount of new agent in a year is
less than the amount required for servicing in that year, all the new agent is
assumed to be used for servicing and new equipment is assumed no longer to be manufactured.
- In Volume 3, in the "Calc" sheet of the MS-Excel
spreadsheets for Categories 2.F.2 "Foam Blowing Agents", the cells F29 to F59
and K26 to K59 contain incorrect equations. The cells F29 to F59 are
erroneously referring to the column C which should have been column D. The
cells K26 to K59 are erroneously referring to the column I which should have
been column B. These incorrect links to other cells should be corrected.
- In Volume 3, in the "Calc" sheet of the MS-Excel
spreadsheets for Categories 2.F.3 "Fire Protection", the embedded equations do
not ensure that mass balance of agent is maintained. In some cases, this sheet
yields negative values for bank and emissions, which is impossible. This is
because the effect of "servicing" of equipment is not explicitly taken into
account, and because the calculation of bank in the row 41 is not correct. In
order to correct these errors, equations in the rows 37 and 41 should be
modified and the rows 45-47 should be added in accordance with the following
assumptions:
- Servicing will take place every year.
- When the total amount of new agent in a year is
less than the amount required for servicing in that year, all the new agent is
assumed to be used for servicing and new equipment is no longer manufactured.
