United Kingdom Government Chief Scientific Advisor Sir Mark Walport led a delegation including representatives from the UK Met Office on a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on 5 November 2014.
Sir Mark and the delegation paid a courtesy visit to JMA Director-General Noritake Nishide and engaged in discussions on future collaboration in the field of disaster mitigation activities.

The visitors were given a series of presentations by JMA experts on cutting-edge activities engaged in by the Agency, including work on its Emergency Warning System, High-resolution Precipitation Nowcasts, NWP models and contingency planning.
