T-PARC Operations Meeting was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Japan, from 7 to 8 April 2008.
This meeting was held to discuss the implementation plan of the T-PARC (THORPEX Pacific Asian Regional Campaign). T-PARC, research activities in the Pacific region that includes intensified observations aiming at better typhoon forecasts and will start from June 2008. Thirty-four participants from Germany, Korea, the United States and Japan attended the meeting. As a part of this project, JMA plans to implement drop-sonde observations from airplanes and other special observations, including upper-air observations at the JMA's observatories and research vessels, as well as to perform typhoon forecast experiments. THORPEX is a component programme of the WMO World Weather Research Programme (WWRP). |
