Police want to speak to taxi and delivery drivers after man found dead
A 52-year-old man is currently in police custody
Police said they want to speak to taxi and delivery drivers after a man was found dead. Merseyside Police were called to Braemar Avenue in Southport at around 11.50pm on Sunday, December 22 following a concern for a man at a house.
Paramedics attended the house and found the man, aged in his 70s, dead at the scene. Detectives are currently treating the man's death as unexplained and his next of kin are aware.
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody. An investigation is underway and as part of that detectives want to speak to any taxi or delivery drivers who were in the area at the time and may have picked something on their dashcam.
House-to-house, witness and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area, police said. Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages as we seek to establish the circumstances of what has taken place and we would urge people not to speculate while those enquiries remain ongoing.
“We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry and would ask anyone who was in the area of Braemar Avenue on Sunday night or saw or heard anything or has any information which could assist our investigation to contact us.
“We are also keen to speak to any one in the area who has CCTV that covers the area of Braemar Avenue or any taxi or delivery drivers or motorists who were in the vicinity who think they may have captured something significant on their dash cam.” DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting reference 24001073709.
