BBC Gavin and Stacey fans 'turning off' minutes into show after 'heartbreak'
The BBC comedy has returned to screens for a final episode
Fans of Gavin and Stacey thought they spotted a major show spoiler seconds into the finale. In a similar way to how the first episode started, Gavin was talking on the phone from his office to Stacey discussing a wedding.
Gavin told Stacey he had a "suit fitting" as Stacey replied: "I'd love to make my way down the aisle again, with Smithy looking back at me."
The 2019 Christmas special episode ended on a cliffhanger when Nessa proposed to Smithy. However, before viewers could hear his response, the episode cut to black, leaving everyone wondering about Smithy's answer and the current status of their relationship.
It's been a five-year hiatus since we last saw the families on our screens and viewers are hoping for a lot of questions to be answered in the last ever episode of the BBC hit comedy series.
After the first scene fans rushed to social media to comment on the biggest cliffhanger that has hung over the BBC show since 2019. Fans said: "HE SAID YES" and "WEDDING" another said: "NESSA AND SMITHY???"
However, a shocking twist saw one viewer say: "Na I’m turning it off already #GavinAndStacey" and another saying "Nope. Heartbroken. Christmas ruined. #GavinAndStacey."
Viewers were surprised to see Sonia, Smithy's girlfriend in the last Christmas special, being the bride-to-be instead of Nessa as viewers had hoped it to be. The twist has caused outrage on social media with many disappointed.
