It has been more than a decade since the last series of Downton Abbey on ITV

It's been almost 10 years since the final series of Downton Abbey aired on our television screens. The historical drama series, set between 1912 and 1926, follows the lives of the Crawley family and their servants on the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey.

The ITV show was a huge hit with audiences and aired for a total of sixth series. The show received such acclaim that it went on to have two film adaptatons, Downton Abbey in 2019 and Downton Abbey: A New Era in 2022. A third and untitled film is set for release in 2025.

Downton Abbey is one of ITV's top-rated and much-loved dramas and even though no new episodes have been made for over a decade, fans can still watch repeats on ITV3 and streaming services ITVX and Netflix.

The show featured many already-recognisable cast members including Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley and Maggie Smith as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham. Bradford-born actress Sophie McShera appeared on the show as Daisy Mason.

Daisy Mason was a kitchen maid and assistant cook at Downton Abbey. Sophie McShera played the role of Daisy throughout the show's six series. She also appeared in both films and is set to star in the upcoming third film.

Before first appearing in Downton Abbey in 2010, McShera had starred in Waterloo Road as Ros McCain and in Emmerdale as Danielle Hollywell. She had also appeared on BBC soap Doctors and the television series Survivors.

Since Downton Abbey came to an end, the 39-year-old actress has starred in multiple films and television shows. McShera played Drisella Tremaine in the 2015 film Cinderella, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh.

She starred as Bryony in the British sitcom The Job Lot between 2013 and 2015. She has also appeared on Galavant, Inside No.9 and The Queen's Gambit.

Little is known about McShera's personal life and relationships as the actress does not have any public social media.
