Bob Mortimer may be rich and famous but he doesn't always splash the cash on important things - like dentistry.

The much-loved star, 63, opened up about his health while appearing on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast on Monday night [September 26] - confessing to fans he recently found himself needing medical assistance in hospital over the weekend.

Bob explained: "I am not very well. I am not very healthy at the moment." The comic - who had triple heart bypass surgery in 2015 - went on to discuss ending up in hospital, after working on a fishing show last week for two and half days before finding himself in hospital on the Saturday.

As fans took to social media to send well-wishes to the former Shooting Stars host, a representative for the star reassured the Mirror all was fin e, telling us: "Bob was unwell last week but after a very brief assessment in hospital, we're pleased to report that he's fine and back fishing!"

The comic has been open about his health battles over the years, detailing his experience with from rheumatoid arthritis from a relatively young age, how his recent weight gain puts him at an increased risk of cancer and even confessing on Would I Lie to You? that he often performs dental work on himself.

As he appeared on the BBC show alongside fellow comic Lee Mack, Countdown's Susie Dent, Ore Oduba, David Mitchell, Stacey Solomon and host Rob Brydon, Bob declared: "For the past 15 years, I have performed my own dentistry."

The premise of the comedy panel game is celebrities reveal unusual facts and tell embarrassing stories (some of which are true) about themselves, as the stars on an opposing team try and work out if they're telling the truth or not.

As Loose Women star mused how Bob's admission could be true and probed the comic on his dentistry skills, he declared: "I don’t do extractions.
