Bradley Walsh has hinted that he might bring the curtain down on his 40-year career and head into retirement in a couple years' time.
The 61-year-old host of The Chase, the ITV quiz show he has presented for the past 12 years, has said that he barely gets any time off due to the amount of projects and appearances he makes and that he is looking forward to it all coming to an end.
Bradley is estimated to have £12 million in the bank, so he is in a position where he doesn't have to work the punishing schedule he currently has.
He is about to co-host a new game show for the BBC called Take Off, alongside Holly Willoughby, and he will also be seen as Pa Larkin in ITV's reboot of Darling Buds Of May, called The Larkins.
Speaking to The Sun, Bradley said: “You know what, in a couple of years' time I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it."
Detailing the amount of filming to be done for The Chase, he said: "We make 210 Chases, 16 Celebrity Chases, 16 Beat The Chasers. It’s only actually 86 days recording."
Bradley added while that looks like he has "loads of time off", getting those shows done in a block "allows you then to go off and do other things."
He said that his life and work demands are "quite tricky to juggle it about" and that he has enough "meetings" and "personal appearances" which demand his attention during the year.
Bradley also has a road trip show with his 23-year-old son Barney which has proved a hit for ITV and he has to block time out for filming more series of Breaking Dad.
Speaking about how it all works out, Bradley said: “The Chase allows me to do the other stuff which I really want to do...
“The Larkins is... a 14 to 15-week shoot, and then you need five to six weeks on the road for Breaking Dad.”
Bradley has also said, when speaking on the Sliding Doors podcast, that he knows what he's good at and that is why he has always turned down the chance to do Strictly Come Dancing.
He admitted: “Here’s the trick of doing stuff you can get away with, you’ve got to be brutally honest with yourself. If you don’t get it you can’t sell it.
“If you can’t dance, you can’t sell it, no matter how big a showman you are. Stick to what you know best. I’ve been asked a couple of times to go on Strictly.
“But I’m not a dancer. I don’t even think I’m a good dad dancer. I’m a bad dad dancer, which makes things even worse.”
*Take Off with Bradley & Holly starts on BBC1 on July 24.
