It's been 20 years since S Club Juniors shot to fame as a teen spin-off of S Club 7, but one of its stars, Aaron Renfree, has long since traded in his microphone for a career in dance. After the group disbanded in 2004, Aaron enrolled in college to study at Laine Theatre Arts, and his training led to a role in the original cast of Flashdance the Musical.
He went on to dance for big-name artists like Taylor Swift, Little Mix, and Kylie Minogue, and appeared on TV shows including The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. Nowadays, Aaron works as a choreographer, with credits including the Eugenius! Musical in London, Dancing on Ice, and The Greatest Dancer.
Most recently, he assisted director Craig Revel Horwood on NOW! That's What I Call A Musical. Aaron's shift into choreography seems a natural fit, given the pressure he once spoke about feeling as a performer.
In an interview with Attitude magazine, he revealed: "Being on stage and TV does put the pressure on you. With social media being able to capture so many moments, you don’t want to get the shot of you not looking your best."
He added: "At college I was told to buff up because it would help me get better jobs because male dancers get asked to take their tops off all the time – that’s what it comes down to sometimes... Who has the best body. It sounds extreme but you have to look camera-ready all the time. Take their tops off all the time – that’s what it comes down to sometimes... Who has the best body. It sounds extreme but you have to look camera-ready all the time."
Aaron, who looks unrecognisable two decades after his teen pop career, hasn't forgotten his S Club roots. In a recent Instagram post, he wrote "There ain’t no party like a waitrose party! Jump on this dance trend with me and my s club family". The star also shares dance TikToks and numerous photos showing off his toned physique.
Aaron was part of the group alongside Frankie Bridge (then Sanford) and Rochelle Humes (then Wiseman), who both later joined girl group The Saturdays, as well as fellow band members Daisy Evans, Jay Asforis, Stacey McClean, Calvin Goldspink and Hannah Richings.
