Former Coronation Street star Paula Lane has introduced her baby girl Penny Grace.

The actress, who played Kylie Platt in the ITV soap, welcomed her second child on July 27. She and husband Tom Shaw are already parents to 19-month-old son Arthur.

Opening up about her "enjoyable" home birth, Paula told OK! magazine: "We hired a birthing pool. This time I felt like I'd really cleansed the room. Everything just seemed right.

"Arthur's birth was magical but it was traumatic. This time around was the polar opposite. I felt so in control and really calm.

"The midwives said: "Look, your baby is there in the water." I looked and there she was with her eyes open, just swimming in the water.

"I'm not saying it was easy, but it was the perfect birth."

Talking about how Arthur is coping being an older brother, she added: "I know he's robust, but he's very gentle with other children. He's been very caring. He gives her a little love. Having a boy and a girl is just perfect.

"We’re living in a bubble at the moment, getting used to having two children under the age of two. We really are taking things one day at a time."

Paula departed the ITV soap earlier this year, six years after first stepping foot on the cobbles.

In July, viewers saw her character Kylie killed off after being attacked by her ex-Callum Logan's pal Clayton.

Paula previously said: "If Kylie was a piano, I've played every single key on that board. I don't think you could do much more than she has done.

"It has been a blessing of a job. I just wanted to try my hand at something else. I'm hearing good things so I'm excited about the future."
