Once upon a time, Katie Price enjoyed a life of wealth and luxury - but her sparkling empire has crumbled in recent years following her two bankruptcies.
Today, a hearing will take place remotely in relation to Katie's bankruptcy, with the former glamour model facing a tax debt worth more than £750,000. Mum-of-five Katie, who recently appeared in panto alongside Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona, was once worth an estimated £40 million and appeared to have the world at her feet.
Starting out as a Page 3 girl, Katie, now 46, made a name for herself as one of Britain's most popular media personalities, clocking up lucrative book deals, TV bookings and various business ventures. She even ventured into the world of pop music, with her 2006 album A Whole New World reaching number 12 in the charts.
However, in recent years, Brighton-born Katie has made headlines for her financial woes rather than her multitude of careers. Whereas once upon a time she could command thousands just for a personal appearance, things got so bad that she was apparently paid for one social media post with a single pair of knickers.
Katie also started selling her horses and llamas, along with a £77,000 Audi she bought ex-husband Kieran Hayler for his 30th birthday.
So how has somebody who once had cash to spare lost their fortune in such a dramatic fashion? Here, the Mirror takes a look at where Katie's lost millions went...
First bankruptcy
Katie was first declared bankrupt for a year in December 2019, despite her worth being estimated at £40million at the time.
She agreed to pay an eyewatering £12,000 a month to creditors in a bid to dig herself out of debt. Unfortunately, this plan proved unsuccessful, and in July 2020, Katie was back in court at a bankruptcy hearing, where she revealed she was living in rented accommodation which was costing her £4,200 a month.
Second bankruptcy
Over the years, Katie has been in quite a bit of legal trouble, from her bankruptcy hearing in 2019 to court appearances over fines. In early 2022, she barely avoided an appearance in court by paying off £7,350 of fines dating back three years.
In March 2024, Katie was declared bankrupt a second time during a short hearing at London’s Rolls Building, Insolvency and Companies Court. At the hearing, it was heard that Katie owed £761,994.05 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), and that she had not responded in regards to the debt.
Declaring the star bankrupt, Judge Sebastian Prentis told the court: “There has been no response from the debtor. The papers are in order. There is a substantial debt due from Ms Price to HMRC, and therefore, I will make a bankruptcy order.”
In February 2024, during another hearing in London, barrister Darragh Connell, who was representing the trustees, told the court that Katie had reached a voluntary agreement in a separate dispute over her many unpaid debts. Connell told a bankruptcy hearing judge that the previous agreement included 36 payments of £12,500 and a lump sum.
The High Court ruled that the former Page 3 model would lose half of her monthly earnings. The court heard that trustees went to court to ask for an income payment order – which means money from Katie's earnings would go towards her debts.
Four companies were listed, including the adult-only subscription site OnlyFans, as well as a photographic agency, Backgrid. Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Catherine Burton said, at the end of the hearing, the four companies are "obligated to deduct 40 per cent of the income due to being paid to Ms Price" each month for the next three years.
How does she earn money?
Although Katie had a lot of money, a lot of would have gone to legal costs in the last few years. She was only recently fined £880 for driving without a licence or insurance in August last year. While the fines pile up, a lot of the TV personality's TV work has slowly dried up.
Some of Price's most lucrative TV deals - such as her series of fly-on-wall documentaries, including Katie Price: My Crazy Life - that earned her serious cash have fallen away over the years, while it is thought her modelling opportunities came to an end in 2018. The clothing line House of KP went quiet in 2019, and she resigned from her other clothing line, KP Boutique, in the same year, after making just £13.
In recent years, Katie appeared on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Steph's Packed Lunch, Celebrity Masterchef, Shopping with Keith Lemon and Katie Price's Mucky Mansion. However, it is not known how much the star earns from each one of her stints. The star also sells her old clothing on Depop.
Katie has explored a number of ways to help her earn some cash from her OnlyFans page, as well as two businesses - Scented by Katie Price and Katie Price Equestrian. She also set up an Instagram page selling 'official Katie Price memorabilia' - which included pre-worn lingerie and her wedding dress from her marriage to Peter Andre.
Not only does she keep busy with her Katie Price Show podcast, but she also does special club appearances and makeup masterclasses around the country.
What did she blow her money on?
From surgery, property, luxury holidays, divorces and astronomical staff wages, her Mucky Mansion is said to have had a mortgage of more than £1million with the monthly repayments of £10,000 reportedly £100,000 in arrears at one point.
On top of that she was said to have spent £120,000 on housekeepers , gardeners and nannies. Her monthly heating bill apparently came to £2,000 because she kept it on 24-7, and her other monthly outgoings included £1,500 for twice-weekly manicures and pedicures, £1,000 on getting her hair done, £800 on massages every other day, £800 on a make-up artist, £400 on facials and £500 on age-reversing treatments.
Katie has concerned fans over the last few years over her love of cosmetic surgery. The star has had at least 16 boob jobs and most recently underwent surgery in a bid to have the 'largest boobs in Britain'. Katie is also an avid fan of fillers - having had injections in her lips and face to plump up her pout and smooth out her features.
In the early months of 2024, Katie showed off her new lips and new buttocks after having it plumped up. The costs of the tweaks were revealed, with the recent procedures pushing the amount she has spent changing her body to £130,000. In January of that year, the Daily Mail claimed the star had spent £84,000 on changing the size of her breasts alone - while she has also had liposuction and Botox as well as other procedures.
Katie had work done with Life Aesthetics, a company that offers Brazilian bum lifts starting from £1,700. She also showed off the results of a Butterfly Lip injection, which reconstructed the shape of her lips so that the top lip is puffed up and back to show off her teeth. The procedure costs from £550.
In December 2024, Katie stunned fans after revealing the results of her £10,000 facelift, which some believed left her looking unrecognisable.
Commenting on an Instagram video, where Katie's features appeared far more defined, one follower said: “Darling, in the nicest possible way… You really need to start looking after your body rather than selling it.” Another wrote: “Why have you done this to yourself? You were a natural beauty."
That same month, Katie, who flew to Turkey in September to get the work done, revealed she is planning to undergo surgery, but intends to address “underlying problems” in her life too.
Katie shared: “I think I need therapy when it comes to surgery. I wouldn’t say I’ve got body dysmorphia, but there’s obviously an underlying something why I feel the need to get surgery, or why I look in the mirror and think, ‘I want to change that, or that’.
"What you’ve got to remember is that I’m four years away from being 50 so I’m entitled to [do] whatever I want to my face.”
Cosmetic procedures aside, Katie's love of travel has also proven costly. Back in 2023, Katie went on many holidays and treated herself to tattoos and beach activities. She enjoyed a sunny getaway in Spain and also travelled to Thailand to top up her tan. She sometimes went with some of her children and even had her ex-fiancé Carl Woods tag along on several beachside getaways.
In October 2024, she and boyfriend JJ Slater jetted off on an autumn break in Cyprus, despite her ongoing financial difficulties, and were spotted kissing in the pool of Ayia Napa's £102-a-night Atlantica Panthea Hotel.
When back at home in the UK, she's busy with her mansion and cars. Katie was banned from driving following an accident near her home in Sussex in September 2021. She flipped her car BMW X5 during the crash and was handed a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, a two-year driving ban and 100 hours of community service after admitting to drink driving while disqualified and without insurance.
However, the ban was lifted in 2023, and she celebrated by treating herself to a set of new wheels, reportedly worth £50,000.
