Max George was reportedly rushed to A&E by his mum as more details about his hospital dash have emerged.

The Wanted star has revealed he may have to spend Christmas in hospital this year after being admitted on Wednesday. Tests run by doctors have shown there are "some issues" with his heart. Though the 36-year-old hasn't shared any more health details, he could even need surgery depending what the results are.

In an emotional Instagram post, Max told his 360,000 followers "it's gonna be a difficult few weeks/months" as he shared the worrying news about his hospital admission, sparking concern from fans, as well as his famous pals who were quick to comment. But no one is as worried as Max's mum Barbara, who has reportedly said the family are "beside themselves" and are "keeping their fingers crossed."

His health scare comes two years after his The Wanted bandmate Tom Parker tragically died at the age of just 33 following an 18-month battle with brain cancer, leaving behind wife Kelsey and their two young children, daughter Aurelia, now five, and son Bodhi, now four.

Speaking outside her home in Swinton, Greater Manchester - where Max is from - Barbara told MailOnline: "Max is in the hospital right now and he’s being very well taken care of. I took him to A&E this week where he was looked at. He is in the best place he can possibly be right now. He’s very grateful for all the well-wishes from his fans and he’s got all his friends and family around him too. They have done some tests to see what the best management will be going forward."

Explaining what had happened in a lengthy Instagram post, Max shared a photo of himself giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed. Although he looks exhausted and weak at the moment, he is hopeful he will receive the treatment he needs. But he admitted his recovery could take a while.

He wrote: "Hey everyone. Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart. I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.

"It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks/months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place."

He added: "Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was. Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks..I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do! Let’s do this!"

And this isn't the first time that Max has given an insight into his health in recently. Earlier this year, Max pulled out of a touring production of the late Kay Mellor's the Syndicate, which was directed by her daughter Gaynor Faye for "personal reasons". Max suggested it was related to his health in a statement issued at the time as he wished the cast good luck and vowed to cheer them on "once I'm feeling better".

The following month, Max sparked concern when he shared a photo of himself sporting an apparent bruised and swollen eye, which he later deleted. He appeared to have gauze strips covering his eyelid and it was reported he had suffered from temporary blindness, though what caused it remains a mystery.

Max has also spoken about his battle with booze - which got so bad at one point he was drinking 10 pints and three bottles of wine a night - and his mental health. Calling 2015 his 'worst year' Max recalled how he "couldn't get out of bed" and was having physical symptoms. A doctor later diagnosed depression and anxiety. He has since quit drinking after being told his liver count was low.
