Gary Hollywood is reportedly set to revive his career by signing up to appear on the next series of Dancing on Ice following his axe from the BBC One sitcom, Mrs Brown's Boys.
It's alleged that the actor, best known for his role as Dino Doyle on the hit show, has already auditioned for the ITV reality series and is hopeful that returning to primetime television will boost his career.
The 41-year-old had previously been linked to the skating show but it was claimed that the cast of the BAFTA winning comedy were banned from participating in reality TV.
Now no longer a part of the series, the actor is free to take to the ice rink when the show returns later this year.
An insider revealed: " Dancing on Ice approached Gary last year to participate and he jumped at the chance to do it, but he was still part of the show and had to turn it down."
They added: "The bosses don't like their stars doing reality shows."
The Scottish actor had been connected to Mrs Brown's Boys for over 20 years before he sensationally quit the role following a pay dispute in 2020.
Gary, who played hairdresser Dino on the television series, first met show creator Brendan O'Carroll back in 2000 and was invited to work with him on the tour of his then theatre production, Mrs Brown's Boys.
When the show made its way onto our television screens, Gary continued his role until he left in October last year alongside fellow actor Damien McKieran following a row regarding earning lower wages than their peers.
Speaking to the Daily Star about his exit, the Scottish star said: “I feel I wasn’t being paid equally and I wasn’t being given an explanation for decisions."
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the dad-of-four had dropped his pay row lawsuit against the show.
The actor had launched legal action earlier this year against his former friend Brendan, the BBC and TV production company Hungry Bear Media Limited.
He had cited discrimination and unfair dismissal and in papers lodged with an employment in January this year, Gary claimed he was paid 25% less than his co-stars for his appearance in 2020's six-part spin-off, All Round to Mrs Brown's.
The former BBC star sensationally stated that when he raised his grievances with show creator Brendan, he was told to be "more grateful,"
He also claimed he was axed from one of the two Christmas specials prior to filming with just a few days notice.
However, according to the Daily Star, he dramatically withdrew all claims during a preliminary hearing in June.
A representative for Mr O’Carroll said he would not be making any comment in relation to it.
Mrs Brown's Boys has won numerous awards since it first aired back on BBC One in 2011, including a BAFTA.
Since then it has spawned multiple spin-off and a film, Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie which was released in cinemas in 2014.
In January 2014, whilst speaking to the Radio Times, Brendan aka Mrs Brown said "We're already working on a sequel – Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie 2."
