Patsy Kensit has said she's given up trying to find a man in a heartbreaking admission as she celebrated being single.
The 56-year-old actress has walked down the aisle four times, and earlier this year, called off her whirlwind engagement to property tycoon Patric Cassidy following a series of arguments. Patsy confessed she “believes in love”, but after a string of failed relationships, she’s ready to embrace singlehood and take a break from dating for a while.
Patsy was first married in 1988 to Dan Donovan, but the couple split in 1991. She then went on to wed Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr in 1992, and they welcomed their son James a year later, but divorced in 1996. Her most famous marriage was to Liam Gallagher, and Patsy tied the knot with the Oasis singer in 1997, and they welcomed a son, Lennon, in 1999. But one year later they divorced, after their marriage was rocked by claims of Liam’s infidelity.
Patsy then married DJ Jeremy Healy in 2009, but the pair split 10 months after the wedding, and since then, the former EastEnders actress had sworn off marrying again, until last year, when she met property tycoon Patric Cassidy. He popped the question during a romantic dinner at celebrity haunt Scott’s in Mayfair, but just months later, they had split.
Now, she’s ready to be single and “adjust” her life to make herself happy. “I wouldn't want a relationship, I am not interested. I do believe in love,” she told Hello! magazine. “But for me it's not something I need, I have been on my own a long time and I like my own company. Now, it's just adjusting my life to fill the hole that's in my soul.”
She also discussed the painful collapse of her skincare brand Preciously Perfect in 2021, and she was forced to sell her home. Patsy dismissed reports she was wealthy because of her “past marriages”, and said she had to “start again” after the brand went bust overnight. “I have always owned houses but I had to sell my home and totally start again. It was brutal, particularly because I have worked so hard and then suddenly I was like: ‘Who am I?’” she shared.
Earlier this year, she explained to The Mirror she didn’t speak to any of her ex-husbands, but was supportive of her two sons James and Lennon to have a good relationship with their fathers. “My goals always been that my sons had a really good relationship with their fathers,” she began. “For me. I haven't spoken or had contact with those men. I am very supportive of their relationships with their fathers, but I don't have one. I like it that way.”
Patsy didn’t comment on her break-up with property tycoon Patric, and when news of their engagement ending began to emerge, her spokesperson confirmed the split with a brief statement. “I can confirm they have split, and would appreciate that she is given her privacy regarding the matter. She is currently very busy working,” they told The Sun over the summer.
