Samantha Fox has spoken for the first time on television about the time she claimed David Cassidy sexually assaulted her in a toilet.

The former Page 3 girl, who has gone on to become a successful musician, appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss an allegation in her new book about the late Cassidy, who died just last month following a battle with liver failure and dementia.

Sam has sparked controversy with her autobiography by including the details of a worrying interaction between the two when she was just a teenager - but has been accused of wanting to cash in on David's death.

She addressed those criticisms with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid today, pointing out that her book had been published weeks before Cassidy died.

"Just to put the record straight over this David Cassidy thing, this book came out in America on October 1, way before he died. I didn't even know he was sick. It's a part of my life that happened," she told them.

"You had an incident with him where you said he came onto you and was quite harassing of you?" asked Piers.

"Well he was, yeah, he tried to abuse me in the toilet in quite an aggressive way, I was very young but I dealt with it."

Sam went on: "It didn't traumatise me in any way and I didn't want to come out from that situation, come back to the table where my dad was with a record producer, because at the time I was 18 and I didn't want to jeopardise my music career.

"And I felt, well, I'm not traumatised, I kneed him in the crutch, pushed him off me, I had time to get out the loo and it was over."

In her book, the 51-year-old ex-glamour model says that the Breaking Up Is Hard To Do singer - who died last week aged 67 - followed her into the bathroom in London.

Sam had gone for a toilet break while dining with the singer and her dad.

She recalls in her autobiography, Forever, that David followed her, grabbed her breast and put his hand up her skirt - before she fought him off and kneed him in the crotch.

“It shocked me. I was a huge fan and loved The Partridge Family,” she told the Daily Star Sunday.

“I had a big poster of David Cassidy on my wall and I used to kiss him every night before going to bed.

“When he grabbed me and pushed his tongue down my throat, I just kneed him in the b*****ks and would still do that today,” she added.

The star alleges that the incident took place in May 1985 after she was asked to appear in the music video for his single, Romance.

Sam was asked to pose topless during the shoot alongside David - and she states she could feel his erect penis against her.

"Whenever he pressed himself against me, I could clearly feel his d***,” she writes in her autobiography.

“David seemed to be deliberately drawing out the photoshoot, which took an eternity, and he had an erection the entire time – something he did absolutely nothing to hide,” the repulsed star added.

Good Morning Britain continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV.
