There's plenty that can be said about Donald Trump, 95% of which would have him spitting feathers on Twitter like a furious orange cat.

But unlike his taxes, his third wedding is a matter of public record - no matter how outrageous its details now seem.

The President married Melania Knauss on Saturday January 22 2005, six years after his split from second wife Marla Marples (his first, Ivana Trump, divorced him in 1992).

And their wedding day was, predictably, yuuuge, featuring more than 350 guests, two very expensive bridal gowns and a whole heap of drama.

Who was at Donald and Melania's wedding?

The picture Trump wishes had never been taken: he and Melania laughing gaily along with Bill and Hillary Clinton - the very same Hilary Clinton that he would go on to brand "crooked" and "criminal" just over a decade later.

At the time, Bill was four years out of the White House and the two couples were firm friends.

They weren't the only celebrity superstars to have been given the dubious honour of a wedding invitation, though - other guests included Simon Cowell , Heidi Klum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and Kelly Ripa, as well as P Diddy, Usher, Kathie Lee Gifford, the recently disgraced news anchor Matt Lauer, basketball ace Shaquille O'Neal, Billy Joel and legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

What the bride wore

Not content with one gown for her big day, the Slovenian model picked out two huge wedding dresses to show off to her guests.

She appeared in a 14-page spread in Vogue magazine picking out the perfect dress, which happened to be a £80,000 strapless Christian Dior number made from nearly 300 feet of duchesse satin and featuring 550 hours worth of embroidery.

A dramatic veil covered her elaborate up-do and she accessorised the fishtail-style gown with a blingy diamond necklace, three diamond bracelets and the 12-carat $1.5million diamond engagement ring Donald had previously given her.

But the Dior gown turned out to be too difficult to walk around in, so for the evening reception Melania changed into a Grecian-style fitted Vera Wang number featuring a knee-length split in the skirt.

While the wedding was decorated everywhere with fresh flowers, Melania forwent the traditional bridal bouquet and instead carried a set of family heirloom rosaries.

The happy couple married at 7pm in the Episcopal Church of Bethesda by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. They were greeted by crowds of cheering locals who came down to watch the spectacular event and spot celebs.

After the ceremony, in which Donald slid the 13-caret white emerald-cut diamond and platinum wedding band onto his bride's finger, the 350 guests and wedding party drove back to Trump's private estate Mar-a-Lago.

The guests dined on steamed shrimp salad with champagne vinaigrette as a starter, then wolfed down beef tenderloin for their main.

The Trumps' cake was an impressive five-foot seven-tiered concoction weighing in at 200lbs and stretching across 70 inches in diametre. It was covered in 3,000 handspun white sugar roses and filled with Grand Marnier buttercream.

The masterpiece took two months for pastry chef Cedric Barbaret to design and make - but on the day it couldn't be eaten by guests thanks to all the wires holding it together. Instead. wedding guests had to make do with their individual chocolate truffle cakes instead - and the huge cake was fed to staff.

Afterwards, everyone danced in the Trumps' newly restored $35million ballroom under the light of several crystal chandeliers, surrounded by the ornate Versailles-inspired Louis XIV style decor.

Elton John, Tony Bennett, Billy Joel and Paul Anka each serenaded the newlyweds while a 46-string full orchestra played love songs late into the night.
