Not only do brainteasers increase your critical thinking skills – they also help boost your brain age every time you put yourself to the test. That's exactly why the experts at MrQ have put together a puzzle to challenge your mind.

With more than half of those who try it stumped by the puzzle and convinced there's no solution, you have been tasked with finding Rudolph within a sea of Christmas puddings within 60 seconds.

It's a tricky one so make sure to scan every inch of the screen as he could be hiding anywhere. To make matters worse, he is a very similar colour to the festive puddings and his nose could easily be mistaken for a red berry on a Christmas holly.

If you're ready, set a timer and take a look at the puzzle below to see if you can spot Rudolph in time. Ready...?

According to Mindvalley, "lateral thinking is a form of problem-solving that utilizes a more creative, less direct approach to the problem." A statement reads: "The brain is neuroplastic, meaning it has the ability to shift and change over time.

"Many people believe our brains age as we do, growing less powerful, less capable, and less competent over time. What most don’t realise, however, is that you have the ability to manipulate your brain the way a sculptor moulds clay.

"The brain is susceptible to all we expose it to—people, music, work—even the physical environments we traverse on a day-to-day basis. Everything we partake in has the potential to subtly shift the wiring of our brain."

For those still struggling to find Rudolph, you might want to stop scrolling now as the answer is about to be revealed.

For those on a roll, why not try another brainteaser shared by TikTok page @picpsy? The image shows an explorer, named Brian, standing in front of four doors hoping to flee the house he is trapped inside.

The puzzle starts: "Brian has been kidnapped and locked inside a house. There are four doors in the house and he can escape through one of them. "The third room is filled with poisonous gas. The fourth has such intense sunlight that it burns everything. How can he escape?" Participants were given 60 seconds to solve the brainteaser – but many admitted they failed to come up with a solution in time.

One user said: "Ice room." Another user added: "I'd choose ice because he is wearing a cloth and be could survive a little." A third user said: "The door that he came in." However, another user believes there's a secret solution, saying: "He can also escape through the second. immediately he opens the door, the water flows out and the sharks, being aquatic, won't be able to catch him."

After the timer ran out, the answer was confirmed to be door number four, with the explanation as such: "You can escape through the fourth exit when the sun goes down." However, some users managed to find the correct answer, with one confidently saying: "Four because the sun goes down." Another added: "The last door is the answer just wait until it's night."
