Christmas often sees our favourite shops switch up their opening hours and days. Most retail workers get some chance to spend time with family and friends.

Some will, however, be hoping to take advantage of post-Christmas sale prices as soon as the clock strikes midnight on December 26. But, some shops won't be in a major rush to open the front doors.

Instead, a few big brands will be letting staff take a well-earned break following the festive madness that comes each December when people prepare for the festivities. Here, we've pulled together the information on some of the more popular shops Brits love to visit.

Primark

Clothing store Primark will be open on Boxing Day - but with reduced hours. You can find the full details for local Primark stores opening hours here.

Home Bargains

All Home Bargains stores in the UK will be closed on Boxing Day. The discount store announced earlier this year that there would be a three-day closure over the festive period - including Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Bosses made the call to shut shops across the country "so that employees can spend the festive season with their loved ones." Many fans of the shop understood and even applauded the generous move.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “We know how hard all our colleagues have worked throughout the year. Being a family-run business, we recognise the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones. Therefore, we feel it is only right to support our valued store teams by giving them extended time off around Christmas and New Year."

All Home Bargains stores in the UK will close at 5pm on Christmas Eve. Shoppers will be able to return during Christmas week between December 27 and 31 and, on January 2, normal hours resume.

The Range

The Range has announced it will close all branches on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Shoppers were given a "heads up" on social media earlier this year but were told they could still order items online during the festive shop closures.

The Facebook post said: "Our stores will be closed this Christmas Day & Boxing Day to give our hard-working team members a well-earned break over the festive season. You can still shop online at therange.co.uk." Normal hours will resume on Friday, December 27.

B&M

According to its website, B&M stores will open on Boxing Day and New Year's Day. The only day you won't be able to shop is Christmas Day and closing hours drop back from 11pm to 10pm from December 27.

Checking your local store online would give you the best information about opening times, but the majority appear to be opening at 8am and closing at 6pm on Boxing Day. The same applies on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
