Police were scrambled and had to close off a road in Manchester this afternoon following a "road rage incident" between two men.

Emergency services raced to the scene outside a Tesco Extra earlier this afternoon, with Greater Manchester Police forced to cordon Stockport Road in Hattersley. Police were called to the scene shortly before 1pm, but, now hours later, emergency personnel remain in the area.

The road cordon remains in place, and is blocked off to all vehicles and pedestrians at the junction of Underwood Road and Ashworth Lane. Photographers at the scene have captured pictures of police cars, with tape seen stretched across the road and a man wearing a hi-vis standing behind.

Video footage now circulating on social media and seen by the Manchester Evening News reportedly shows the incident, and captures two vehicles stopped on the middle of the road. A group of three people can be seen standing at the central reservation while armed with weapons following what appeared to be a road rage incident.

Among the group is one man holding what appears to be a large stick. The MEN added that it understands any of the "weapons" involved in the incident were not knives. A second photo shows a dented grey van parked behind a police car outside the Tesco Extra.
