A married Met police community support officer (PCSO) admitted to performing a grotesque sex act in a public park.
Kevin Phillips was caught on camera wearing his uniform whilst preforming the solo sex act in Dog Kennel Hill Park, Croydon.
The 56-year-old was charged with outraging public decency, Croydon Magistrates Court was told today.
He admitted the charge and blamed his behaviour on stress and a medical condition.
A member of the public filmed him, with the video viewed tens of thousands of times after being shared online.
In the 33-second clip posted on Twitter, the officer is seen sitting on a bench in the park with his police cap by his side.
He looks over his shoulder to see if anyone is nearby and then can be seen watching something on his mobile phone before he commits the sex act.
The member of the public who filmed the sickening act confronted the PCSO and photographed his badge number, leading to him being arrested.
The PCSO works in Met Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command admitted the offence when questioned after it happened on Wednesday.
He appeared in the dock wearing a burgundy sweater and was told to catch his breath before taking a seat.
Phillips, from Croydon, who had no previous convictions, spoke only to enter his guilty plea and confirm his name, date of birth and address.
District Judge Nigel Dean sent the case to Croydon Crown Court, where Phillips will be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
Phillips was released on bail only on the condition he does not enter a park or recreation ground in England or Wales.
His solicitor, Tahir Ali, told the court Phillips is married with two young daughters.
The video posted online appeared to show a man "committing a sex act on a London park bench in broad daylight", according to the MailOnline.
The footage was brought to the attention of police shortly before 11.30pm on Wednesday, the Met said.
The force's directorate of professional standards is leading an investigation and Phillips has been suspended from duty.
A referral has been made to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Commander Kyle Gordon of the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command has now issued a statement condemning the video which has "horrified and saddened" the force.
Commander Gordon said: “I know that everyone will be absolutely shocked by this video. I am absolutely horrified and saddened by incidents such as this, as are all decent officers and staff. They are contrary to everything we stand for.
"I would like to reassure everyone that we are working as fast as we possibly can to identify the full circumstances of what took place.
"As soon as we became aware of the video just before midnight we acted immediately. Officers worked throughout the night and a serving member of police staff was arrested in the early hours of this morning and taken into custody.
"As a criminal investigation is now under way we are limited in what further details we can discuss. However, we will keep the public updated at significant stages of the inquiry."
