Barnsley v Sheff

Wed BARNSLEY skipper Paul Reid (ankle) and Neil Austin (dead leg) are doubts while Brian Howard (shoulder) is definitely out and Sam Togwell is banned. Rob Atkinson, recently recalled early as defensive cover from his loan at Halifax, expects to start in Reid's absence.

Wade Small could be on the Owls' bench after knee surgery. John Hills (hamstring) remains sidelined, but Wayne Andrews (knee) is expected to feature.

Cardiff v Crystal Palace

CARDIFF defenders Glenn Loovens (dead leg) and Kerrea Gilbert (rested) both return so Roger Johnson and Alan Wright make way. Kevin Cooper (calf) and Luigi Glombard (hamstring) are still out for City, who won 2-1 at Palace in October.

Leon Cort (hamstring) could return for Palace after six weeks on the sidelines. Midfielder Michael Hughes (ankle) and keeper Julian Speroni (groin) are still out.

Colchester v Wolves

KARL DUGUID, who has been suffering with headaches since being kicked in an eye against Preston last Saturday, has resumed training but faces a late fitness test for in-form Colchester, who have won 10 of their 12 home games.

On-loan winger Michael Kightly is suspended for Wolves so Rohan Ricketts could win a recall. Striker Jay Bothroyd (thigh) is out while Jody Craddock (Achilles) is a doubt.

Coventry v Southend

SKIPPER Robert Page is set to return for City after missing Boxing Day as his wife went into labour. Andy Whing, back from a loan spell at Brighton, could also be in line for an appearance while keeper Luke Steele (gashed knee) could recover.

Southend hitman Freddy Eastwood is still suffering from an ear and throat infection and remains a doubt. Efe Sodje (suspended) and Spencer Prior (groin) are out.

Derby v Plymouth

DERBY full-back Paul Boertien (knee) will be replaced by either Michael Johnson, Richard Jackson or Mo Camara. Centrehalf Dean Leacock (hamstring) is expected to be passed fit.

Plymouth defender Hasney Aljofree is expected to shrug off an ankle injury but winger Bojan Djordjic (fractured cheekbone), left-back Lee Hodges (knee) and striker Nick Chadwick (groin) are all sidelined.

Hull v Burnley

DEFENDER Danny Coles is suspended for Hull while Nick Barmby and Steve McPhee (both groin) are again likely to miss out with groin injuries. John Welsh (ankle) and Sam Collins (knee) also remain sidelined. Top scorer Jon Parkin could start after an ankle injury.

Burnley's Jon Harley is available after a bug and Brian Jensen continues in goal with Danny Coyne (hamstring) still out.

Norwich v QPR

ADAM DRURY (hip) is still out for Norwich and Andy Hughes is set to continue to deputise. Midfielder Carl Robinson is suspended so Youssef Safri will return to the side.

Jimmy Smith is unavailable for QPR while the paperwork for him to extend his loan from Chelsea is finalised. Marc Bircham is doubtful with a knock but Gareth Ainsworth (ankle) and Dominic Shimmin (hamstring) are out.

Southampton v Leicester

STRIKER Kenwyne Jones (banned) and midfielder Andrew Surman (knee) are missing so Bradley Wright-Phillips is likely to start in the Southampton attack alongside top scorer Grzegorz Rasiak.

Darren Kenton, back after a calf injury but short of match fitness, could be on the City bench against his former club. Striker Danny Cadamarteri could also play after getting a short-term contract.

Stoke v Leeds

LEE HENDRIE will be available to play the final game of his Stoke loan spell if he can overcome a slight knee injury. Salif Diao (groin) and Darel Russell (calf) may still feature while Carl Dickinson could start at left-back.

Defenders Matthew Kilgallon (ankle) and Ugo Ehiogu (thigh) are out for Leeds while Kevin Nicholls is still suspended. Goalkeeper Tony Warner is expected to keep his place.

Sunderland v Preston

MIDFIELDER Graham Kavanagh has been passed fit for Sunderland despite feeling pain following knee cartilage surgery. Defenders Kenny Cunningham (knee) and Stephen Wright (ankle) remain sidelined.

Former Sunderland striker Danny Dichio is suspended for Preston but it is hoped forward Brett Ormerod and midfielder Danny Pugh will overcome illness. Midfielder Paul McKenna (leg) is expected to be available.

West Brom v Ipswich

DEFENDER Paul Robinson is suspended but Neil Clement is available for Baggies after a ban. Steve Watson (hamstring) could return but Zoltan Gera (calf) is struggling.

Dan Harding, who went off with concussion during the 2-1 win at Coventry, is expected to keep his place with Ipswich set to name an unchanged line-up for a fourth consecutive match. West Brom won the reverse fixture 5-1.
