NEIL WARNOCK was chucked out of his own promotion party for a typical touchline tantrum at Bramall Lane.
The Sheffield United boss had to be dragged down the tunnel by police after referee Graham Poll sent him off for directing a volley of abuse at officials and Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell.
The pair have a history of animosity since Blackwell left South Yorkshire for Leeds - and their latest dust-up was sparked by Gary Kelly's late tackle on Craig Short just before half-time.
Warnock gave a sneak preview of what the Premiership can expect from him next season as he remonstrated with Blackwell and the fourth official.
He was still raging as a policeman manhandled him down the tunnel. The Blades are going up at last, but Warnock never changes.
The football was an entertaining sideshow to the celebrations and that touchline tussle, with honours even on the night in a surprisingly competitive clash.
David Healy's thunderous 25-yard shot just before the break spared team-mate Eirik Bakke's blushes, after the Norwegian's own-goal had gifted the Blades an early lead.
This was supposed to be the derby to decide who won Premiership football as well as Yorkshire bragging rights - but instead it was a promotion knees-up.
Sold-out Bramall Lane was a sea of red and white as Blades fans in the 29,329 crowd celebrated the return of topflight football after 12 years.
It was all the sweeter that their visitors were Leeds, who had stumbled in their pursuit after Warnock's men had stuttered enough to give them a glimmer of hope.
This was one celebration Blackwell would have gladly missed - and the former Blades' assistant manager must have felt like the ex-husband at a wedding reception.
Blackwell was glued to his seat as the first chant of "Stand up if you're going up" echoed around the ground.
He won't know his side's fate in the promotion play-offs until next month.
Sheffield United fans celebrated their opener as if it was the goal that clinched promotion, instead of just the icing on the cake, when Bakke headed a David Unsworth corner past his own keeper in the 10th minute.
But the next goal came at the other end, Healy unloading from outside the box with a well-placed effort that gave Paddy Kenny no chance after 42 minutes. A minute later Warnock was sent to the stands to watch a fractious second half.
Shaun Derry was lucky to escape with a booking while Stephen Crainey's challenge on Steve Kabba in the area looked like a penalty to everyone but Poll.
