Grabban, signed on loan from Millwall, struck just before half-time with a header which looped over keeper Jamie Jones and in via a post.
The home side had the better of the chances in the first half, with Sam Saunders heading over, but Grabban made no mistake just before the break with a neat header.

Striker Scott Vernon set the tone for a thriller by putting Southend in front with a fifth-minute penalty after he had been upended by keeper Mikkel Andersen. Scott Spencer then doubled the lead by volleying home seven minutes later.
But Jo Kuffour's 35th-minute lob and a spot-kick from Jeff Hughes two minutes later brought Rovers level after Simon Francis had brought down Chris Lines.

Sweeney went closest for Pool as he shot against the bar from 12 yards five minutes before the interval. A minute later James Brown rolled a shot at goal from a tight angle, but Swindon were always comfortable.
O'Donovan, Sweeney and sub Adam Boyd poked efforts at keeper David Lucas, but he had little to do until he pushed a Brown chance out in injury time.
