Kevin Pietersen was forced to take a half a million pound pay-cut as his value in the IPL took a nose dive.

But he can count himself one of the lucky ones to get a deal at all as money proved too tight to mention for so many players left on the sidelines.

Perhaps former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh can help them out after the Delhi Daredevils spent a record £1.6million to get him.

KP was snapped up for £205,000 by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, his fourth IPL team, but one that also signed his old England team-mates Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara, who is managed by the same agency as KP.

They were the only three England players signed up in the auction as the likes of Alex Hales and Michael Carberry were rejected, but then so too was Kumar Sangakkara and Hashim Amla.

Pietersen will also be linking up with other stellar names such as David Warner and Dale Steyn who were already on Hyderabad’s books.
