A nasty stamping incident that saw Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam sent off spoiled a thoroughly entertaining game in which Doncaster chalked up their first win at Blackpool.
Adam, on loan at the Seasiders from Rangers, saw red after putting the boot into former Blackpool striker Richie Wellens, after the Rovers player had been fouled by Danny Coid.
Neither manager had any complaints about the dismissal.
Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "You just can't stamp on people. Richie is not that type of player to provoke anything like that. Adam is going to miss three games. Maybe it's something to do with the Scottish blood."
Blackpool manager Tony Parkes said: "I didn't really see what happened, but the referee did and he saw fit to send Charlie off.
"We'll miss him. He's an experienced player who has played in Old Firm games and he gives us quite a bit more."
Veteran keeper Neil Sullivan stole the show in the first half with a string of unbelievable saves as Blackpool poured forward.
The former Chelsea, Tottenham, Leeds and Wimbledon keeper was dashing here, there and everywhere and produced stupendous saves to deny DJ Campbell and Adam. It couldn't last and in the 15th minute David Vaughan fired home after Rovers defenders failed to clear.
Then Sullivan made an incredible one-handed save from point-blank range to deny David Fox.
It looked like Blackpool would run riot. But Doncaster surprised their hosts when Brian Stock levelled, rifling the ball in from 22 yards.
After Sullivan's heroics in the first half, it was the turn of James Coppinger to star for the Yorkshire side after the interval. And it was from Coppinger's cross in the 54th minute that Sam Hird put Rovers in front, sidefooting home.
A minute later Blackpool's star man Campbell levelled with a superb, cool finish from the edge of the area that was worth the admission money on its own.
But Coppinger had the final say.
In the 64th minute Blackpool's defenders gave him all the time and the space he needed to drill in the winner.
Then the nastiness started with that foul on Wellens and Adam's inexcusable stamp. He'll pay the penalty and his team may well suffer as he serves an expected three-match ban.
But Coppinger, Sullivan and the rest of the Doncaster boys will be high-kicking it around South Yorkshire for a while on the strength of this spirited victory.
