Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was held back and pushed away by team-mate Craig Dawson as fans watched their players clash for the second successive game.
Ait-Nouri lost his head at the final whistle and had to be restrained by Dawson as he appeared to be arguing with somebody else on the pitch. The full-back was then shoved towards the tunnel by Dawson before things could turn ugly.
The incident comes just days after Mario Lemina was involved in a heated full-time confrontation with Wolves assistant manager Shaun Derry following a clash with Jarrod Bowen.
Lemina was stripped of the captaincy following the incident, which occurred after Wolves had been beaten by the Hammers.
It looked as though Ait-Nouri may have been arguing with Matheus Cunha, who scored Wolves' only goal of the afternoon. It has since emerged that the defender was sent off after the final whistle after picking up a second yellow card for his actions.
Wolves remain in the relegation zone after their chastening defeat against Ipswich, who won 2-1 right at the death courtesy of a goal from midfielder Jack Taylor.
Another loss will pile even more pressure on head coach Gary O'Neil, who survived losing against West Ham at the start of the week in a clash which was branded 'El Sackico' with Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui also under pressure.
Despite the chaos at Molineux, O'Neil seemingly retains the support of the club hierarchy and chairman Jeff Shi moved to quash speculation over his future on the eve of the Ipswich match.
"I remain grateful to Gary for stepping into such a demanding situation just days before the beginning of a new season [when he replaced Julen Lopetegui in August 2023], and for his commitment to the club every day since then," Shi wrote in the Wolverhampton Express & Star.
"While he knows that improving our results quickly is essential for everyone associated with the football club, we are united in supporting him as all of us strive to make that progress happen."
