You'd imagine that anyone outscoring Kylian Mbappe and being likened to Mo Salah would be a household name, but Omar Marmoush has been flying under the radar a little bit.

The 25-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt forward has made a flying start to the 2024/25 season, bagging 10 goals in his first 10 games, including nine in seven Bundesliga matches. He's just three strikes away from tying his best-ever goal tally in a single league campaign, and is the third highest-scorer in Europe's top five divisions behind Robert Lewandowski (12 league goals) and Erling Haaland (10), and ahead of the likes of Harry Kane (eight) and Mbappe (six).

Naturally, interest from Premier League clubs is beginning to mount, with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly monitoring Marmoush's progress. And former Germany international Dietmar Hamann says he wouldn't be surprised to see the Egyptian seal a blockbuster move to England at some point soon.

"I think that both Frankfurt strikers [Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike] are on the radar of the English," he told wettbasis.com. "A wonderful couple that harmonise very well with each other.

"With Marmoush, I was always surprised at Wolfsburg that he didn't really get going," Hamann added. "But he's a wonderful player, a great finisher, and has pace. So he's a player who is obviously very interesting for the Premier League."

The Cairo-born ace started out in his native Egypt before sealing a career-igniting switch to Wolfsburg in 2017. But first team minutes were hard to come by and Marmoush spent the bulk of his six-year spell at the Volkswagen Arena either playing for Wolfsburg II or out on loan.

He joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023 and had a brilliant debut season, netting 17 goals in all competitions. And it now looks as if he's taken his game up another couple of gears.

Being Egyptian, comparisons to Salah are somewhat inevitable, and while ex-Liverpool midfielder Hamann said it would be tough to emulate the 32-year-old, he saw no reason why Marmoush couldn't replace Salah as the figurehead of The Pharaohs.

"It will be difficult to follow Salah. I don't think he has missed 10 games in eight or nine years," Hamann noted. "So it will be difficult to follow him, but I would trust Marmoush to do it."

With Salah's Liverpool contract set to expire in 2025, there's a chance Marmoush, who has six goals in 34 games for Egypt, could fill his shoes at Anfield as well. The two-time PFA Player of the Year, 32, has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, and if he doesn't agree an extension by January he'll be free to negotiate with other clubs.

Hamann, 51, spent seven years at Liverpool as a player, racking up 280 appearances. He also played for Manchester City, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich, and earned 59 caps for Germany.
