Pep Guardiola is wearing his wedding ring whilst in the dugout despite reports of a split from his wife after 30 years together.

In Spain it has been claimed that the Manchester City boss and Cristina Serra have gone their separate ways despite being married for the past 10 years. Guardiola though is still donning his wedding ring whilst on the touchline at Brentford.

Serra had returned to Barcelona with one of their three children, and more than five years on the couple have now split. Friends of the pair have said their situation is "friendly and cordial" and Guardiola and Serra spent Christmas together with their children Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17.

A source has rejected any allegations of infidelity and claimed: "They have parted on friendly terms and I really don't think there is someone else involved."

One friend close of Guardiola told the Daily Mail: "I think they have grown apart. She left Manchester about five years ago to return to Barcelona. That has taken its toll. He is a total workaholic and not being involved in their family fashion business together may have affected their relationship too."

The pair, who share three children, met back in 1994 when Guardiola was a player for Barcelona, but they did not tie the knot until 2014 in an intimate ceremony. It is understood that the decision to split was made so that Serra could look after her business interests, after managing things by commuting back and forth from England in the previous three years

On the rare occassions that Guardiola and Serra have spoken publicly about their relationship they have both been full of praise. Serra was a big supporter of her husband when he was accused of doping during his playing days and she was one of many who defended him to the media before all charges were eventually dropped.

The City boss has hailed his wife and praised her influence on his style, for which he's become known: "My wife is the best in the world at many things, but especially in fashion. So she says normally to me, don't wear this or wear that, so I follow her. I am smart enough to know that when people are much much better than me, follow their advices, and hers is really good."

Guardiola and Serra have previously attend several major events together despite their lives often being 800 plus miles apart. They were in the Royal Box at Wimbledon last year.
