Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has revealed Mason Mount is unavailable for their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham - but said wantaway star Marcus Rashford has a chance of featuring.
United are hoping to take one step closer to the Carabao Cup final at Wembley with victory over Spurs in north London as Ruben Amorim eyes silverware in his first season.
The Red Devils arrive in London on a high following their dramatic 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City on Sunday but they will have to face Spurs without the services of Mount after a leg injury.
Noussair Mazraoui - who has been one of United's most impressive players this season - will be monitored in the run-up to the game after being substituted in the win over City with a knock.
Amorim said the pair were the only major injury concerns to report on. He said: "Mason Mount is not available. He has an injury. Nous, we will see today. The rest of the squad are ready to play the game.
"We have to asses all the players and try not to get a lot of injuries. If we do that, we'll be stronger in these kind of moments."
Two players who have a chance of featuring are Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho - who were both dropped from United's victory at the Etihad on Sunday, leading to speculation over their futures.
Rashford in particular has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford in January after giving a bombshell interview confirming he wants a new challenge following a lack of success on the pitch this season.
Amorim earlier insisted he wanted to keep Rashford in his squad and said he and Garnacho were both in the running to play against Spurs.
"They are training, so we will see," he said. "We have one more training [session], like I said in the press conference, they are our players. We are better with them. If they cope with training and the engagement with team-mates, they will be ready to play."
Rashford made it clear he holds no ill feelings towards Amorim or the club but wants a fresh start amid a long period of inconsistency and a lack of games. He said: "When I leave it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.
"I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
