Wilfried Zaha's move to Galatasaray has made him the latest player to trade the Premier League for the Turkish Super Lig.
The Ivorian international has ended his long association with Crystal Palace, moving to Istanbul with the hope of finally playing Champions League football after missing out during a brief Man Utd stint. He is one of a number of eye-catching summer signings from the Turkish champions, with Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo joining from Roma and Argentine striker Mauro Icardi close to sealing a move.
"Obviously, this will be my first opportunity to be part of the Champions League," Zaha said. "So my mindset is to come here, do my best. Try and help the club win titles and get us as far as possible."
Zaha is far from the first Premier League star to try his luck in Turkey, though. Here, Mirror Football looks at seven others to make the move.
Didier Drogba
"To be honest, I've asked a few friends," Zaha noted upon joining Galatasaray. "I've asked Patrick van Aanholt that came here, I've asked (Didier) Drogba. And he obviously told me it was amazing. But yeah, I just can't wait to step in here and, see it for myself."
Drogba, an Ivory Coast international himself, was at Galatasaray in between his two Chelsea spells. The striker joined in 2013 after a few months in China with Shanghai Shenhua, scoring 20 times in 53 games.

His one full season in Turkey saw Gala finish second under Roberto Mancini and reach the Champions League round of 16. They claimed a first-leg draw against Drogba's former club Chelsea, but were no match for Jose Mourinho's men in the second leg.
Loris Karius
German goalkeeper Karius joined Besiktas on a two-year deal after his nightmare for Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final. He impressed in Turkey, but a pay dispute ultimately saw the deal cut short.
"I was very patient for months telling the board over and over again," he said in a May 2020 message. "Same things happened already last year. Unfortunately they haven’t tried to solve this situational problem and even refused my suggestion to help by taking a pay cut.
"It’s important to me that you know I really enjoyed playing for this club a lot. Besiktas can be proud having such passionate fans behind them always giving amazing support."
Dele Alli
England midfielder Alli was another to move to Besiktas, joining the Super Lig side on loan for the 2022-23 season. The move came after a tough start to life at Everton, and things didn't work out for him in Turkey.
"To be honest I feel great emotions from the moment I arrived," he said upon making the temporary move. "I can feel the passion here everywhere I travel."
The former Tottenham star scored three times in 15 appearances for Besiktas, who opted not to make the move permanent. He is now back at Everton, and will hope he can make more of an impact under Sean Dyche than he did under previous boss Frank Lampard.
Mesut Ozil
There are some parallels between Alli and Ozil's moves to Turkey. Both made the switch after struggling for Premier League minutes, and both ended their Super Lig spells on a bit of a low note.
Ozil was frozen out by Arsenal long before his 2021 move to Fenerbahce, and there were high points. It ended in tears, though, with the midfielder excluded from the squad and later allowed to move on for nothing.
He stayed in Turkey after leaving Fener, joining Istanbul Basaksehir last summer. However, after a tough time with injuries, the Germany international opted to hang up his boots.
Demba Ba
Ba, like Ozil, had a spell with Istanbul Basaksehir. It was part of an impressive late career, with the Senegal striker also turning out for Besiktas and Goztepe, and scoring goals for all three.
The former Chelsea man was part of the Besiktas side which knocked Liverpool out of Europe in the 2014-15 season, scoring the first penalty in a shoot-out win. He returned to Turkey after a spell in China, and scored the opener in a famous win for Istanbul Basaksehir against Manchester United.
Ba scored 46 goals in the Super Lig, at a rate of close to one every other game. He also scored eight goals in Europe in his first Besiktas spell, including a hat-trick in a Champions League qualifier.
Harry Kewell
Former Leeds star Kewell proved an unpopular figure with fans when he joined Galatasaray, with two Leeds fans having been killed ahead of a European tie in Istanbul years prior. Gala fans warmed to the Australian, though, after his move from Liverpool in 2008.
"My love and respect for Leeds United and what the club has done for me will never change, no matter what anyone says about me and whatever their motives are," Kewell wrote in an open letter to Leeds supporters. "My sense of sorrow and sympathy for the families and friends of Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight will always be with me."
On the pitch, the Australian international's 34 goals in three seasons were rare bright spots during a tough few years for Gala. He helped the team reach the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in 2009, scoring in a dramatic win over Bordeaux, before ending his career in the A-League.
Mario Balotelli
Not every Premier League star to move to Turkey has joined one of the big Istanbul clubs. Italy international Balotelli, who played with Manchester City and Liverpool in England, moved to Adana Demirspor ahead of the 2021-22 season.
The Italian scored 18 goals, the second highest return in the league, to help his team secure a top-half finish. An undoubted highlight was a rabona against Goztepe, one of five he scored in a 7-0 win
Balotelli left after just one year, but Adana Demirspor haven't let that put them off signing former Premier League players. Ex-Leicester midfielder Gokhan Inler captained the side last term, while one-time Man Utd star Nani has joined this summer.
