Burnley have tied up a season's loan deal with Jon Flanagan .
The versatile Liverpool defender has been given the go-ahead to spend the campaign with the Clarets.
Flanagan, 23, has played once for England but his development has stalled at Anfield, mainly due to a knee injury that has proved difficult to shake off.
Liverpool's hierarchy remain hopeful that he can tie down a regular first-team spot and so are reluctant to sanction a permanent deal.
They believe that a full season under the guidance of Sean Dyche will return him to full fitness and enable him see out a long-term contract that was agreed only last season which runs until 2019.
Flanagan has made 50 appearances for Liverpool since making his debut as a teenager, scoring one goal.
