Tyler Dibling will be rewarded with a bumper new deal following his meteoric rise at Southampton.

Teenage midfielder Dibling has burst onto the scene after making his breakthrough this season. Dibling, who has been bright spark amid the gloom of Southampton’s winless start, has already caught the eye of top clubs. And Southampton plan to ensure he is tied down beyond his current deal that ends in 2026.

Dibling will earn a pay hike to bring the 18-year-old academy product in line with a number of his St Mary’s teammates. He first caught the eye of Newcastle two years ago when the rising star scored a hat-trick in a Premier League 2 game.

Magpies chiefs were vowed by his exploits in the second-string clash while a number of German clubs have been keeping tabs on him ever since.

Crystal Palace have identified Millwall teenager Romain Esse as their next Championship gem.

Eagles sporting director Dougie Freedman is a big fan of teenage winger Esse, who has caught the eye this season with their south London rivals. Esse, 19, is the rising star of the second tier with Freedman having personally watched the England youth international in action twice this season.

Palace have a history of plucking young talent from the EFL. Michael Olise was snapped up from Reading in 2021 before being sold on for a healthy £50m profit to Bayern Munich in the summer. England duo Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton were also raided from QPR and Blackburn respectively and are tipped for big-money exits from Selhurst Park.

Esse signed a long-term contract extension in August but Millwall boss Neil Harris has conceded the starlet will be on the radar of Premier League clubs. He said: “Romain has huge potential.

“There will be a lot of interest. He has aded to his end product this year already. If he carries on doing that, then Romain will certainly grace the Premier League at some stage.”

Fulham want to reward Adama Traore with a new deal.

Troare has made an eye-catching start to the new Premier League season and has flourished under Marco Silva. The Spanish winger’s current contract expires next summer.

And Fulham plan to ensure that ex-Wolves flyer Traore stays long-term rather than risk him departing as a free agent. Silva has already seen Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Willian leave for nothing in the summer and doesn’t want Traore, 28, to follow suit.

Traore is not the only Cottages star who can depart on a free in 2025 with Raul Jimenez, Carlos Vinicius and Kenny Tete out of contract. The club do have an option in their favour to extend the trio’s contract.

Tony Mowbray could return to management at Cardiff (

Tony Mowbray has been sounded out over a potential return to management at Cardiff.

The Championship club have drawn up a list of targets to succeed Erol Bulut, who was axed last month after a woeful start to the season. Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan, who is looking to appoint a 12th permanent manager during his 14 year tenure, has previously preferred to work with young head coaches.

But rock-bottom Cardiff are exploring all options following the worst start to a season in the club’s history - with Mowbray on their list. Mowbray worked wonders in the second-tier despite presiding work under shoestring budgets in recent years with Blackburn and Sunderland.

The 60-year-old though stepped down from his role at Birmingham for health reasons in May following two months on sick leave so his availability remains up in the air.

Charlton chief Nathan Jones is believed to be under consideration and he would jump at the opportunity to take over at his boyhood club. The out-of-work pair Steven Schumacher and Alex Neil, who both have Championship experience, are also interested.

Omer Riza is currently in caretaker charge with an announcement on Bulut’s full-time replacement expected during the international break.
