Saddlers boss Richard Money told his players not to beat themselves up after slumping at home to Southend.
Goals by Peter Clarke and Leon Clarke strengthened the Shrimpers' promotion charge.
But Money refused to lay into his players afterwards.
The Walsall chief said: "We were punished for two mistakes but I don't want anyone's head down after that."
Southend boss Steve Tilson isn't getting carried away by his team's good form. He said: "We're in a strong position but there's a long way to go."
