Blues' Radhi Jaidi has a hamstring problem while new-boy Kemy Agustien (groin) also misses out. Quincy Owusu-Abey i e, lacking match fitness, is unlikely to play. Captain Damien Johnson (back) is out for two months.
Blades striker James Beattie, still recovering from minor knee surgery, and Keith Gillespie (sprained ankle) are out. Loan signings Greg Halford and Matthew Spring may play a part.
Blackpool v BRISTOL C
Tangerines could be without Steve Kabba (Achilles) and Daniel Nardiello (back), while David Vaughan awaits international clearance after his move from Real Sociedad. Loanee Mo Camara could start with Stephen Crainey (groin) doubtful.
City's Marvin Elliott (knee) is out so Cole Skuse is set to deputise in midfield. Scott Murray (broken wrist) also misses out.
Cardiff v SOUTHAMPTON
Tony Capaldi looks set to miss out for Cardiff after pulling up with a strain during the tour of Portugal. Darren Purse and new signing Miguel Comminges should start.
Saints miss Stern John through suspension after his red card during their dramatic last-day escape from relegation. Centre half Andrew Davies is also missing after undergoing a knee op.
Charlton v SWANSEA
Charlton will wait on new captain Mark Hudson (ankle), as boss Alan Pardew is short of cover at centre-back. Nicky Weaver should be fit after knee trouble, but Matt Holland (ankle), Chris Dickson (thigh) and Svetoslav Todorov (knee) are all out.
Swansea's Gorka Pintado and Angel Rangel will miss the trip with groin problems but star striker Jason Scotland has returned to fitness.
Coventry v NORWICH
Clinton Morrison goes straight into the Coventry squad after signing this week, as does recent recruit Freddy Eastwood.
Their fellow forward Leon Best has a knee injury.
Norwichsignings Sammy Clingan, Wes Hoolahan, Dejan Stefanovic, JohnKennedy and Arturo Lupoli are all in contention, but midfielder David Bell (ankle) and left-back Adam Drury (hamsting) will miss out.
C Palace v WATFORD
Matt Lawrence and James Scowcroft are expected to be fit for Palace. Defender Lawrence is on the mend following a hernia operation and striker Scowcroft missed the end of last season with a hamstring injury.
Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd will hand Jon Harley a debut in a three-man midfield.
Keeper Richard Lee (knee) is out so veteran Mart Poom returns.
Derby v DONCASTER
Latvian winger Andrejs Pereplotkins is in line to start for Derby, but midfielder Robbie Savage is likely to be left out.
Ruben Zadkovich and Benny Feilhaber are on international duty at the Olympics.
Doncaster striker Darren Byfield is unlikely to feature because of a hernia and could join Jason Price (foot) and Sean McDaid (dislocated knee) on the sidelines.
Ipswich v PRESTON
Ex-England keeper Richard Wright will make his second Ipswich debut but Jon Walters will attend the birth of his child. David Norris(heel) is out but Velice Sumulikoski (foot) is fit. Ivan Campo has agreed to join Town and undergoes a medical on Monday.
Preston's Chris Brown is out with ahip injury, so winger Simon Whaley may switch. New duo Ross Wallace and Barry Nicholsonare set to start.
Plymouth v WOLVES
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock confirmed Simon Walton will play after joining from QPR. Sturrock was less forthcoming about other starters, and Romain Larrieu and Graham Stack vie for the keeper's shirt.
New Wolves signings Sam Vokes, Richard Stearman, David Jones and Chris Iwelumo are all set to feature.
Jody Craddock and Karl Henry go head-to-head for the captaincy.
Qpr v BARNSLEY
Iain Dowie's side are without banned trio Martin Rowlands, Damion Stewart and Samuel Di Carmine.
Rowan Vine (broken leg) and Akos Buzsaky (ankle) are also out.
Barnsley, without Jamal Campbell-Ryce (elbow), Heinz Muller (knee) and Anderson De Silva (knee), hope to get international clearance for Argentinian Hugo Colace and Peruvian Miguel Mostto.
Sheff Wed v BURNLEY
James O'Connor will make his Wednesday debut against his old club - but fellow new signing Jimmy Smithwill miss out, as will striker Francis Jeffers.
Clarets manager Owen Coyle has an almost full-strength squad available. Defender Clarke Carlisle is suspended but Coyle has no other concerns and should give debuts to a number of players.
N Forest v READING
Forest striker Andy Cole has a calf injury, as does Paul Anderson, while fellow new boy Joe Garner (knee) is out. Nathan Tyson (hamstring) is missing.
Reading's Graeme Murty has calf trouble, so Liam Rosenior may slot in at right-back with Stephen Hunt at left-back. Brynjar Gunnarsson (knee) isoutwhile Adam Federici and Andre Bikey are on Olympic duty in Beijing.
