A recent survey has unveiled that Brits' festive bucket list dreams include witnessing the Northern Lights from Norway, embarking on a festive journey to Disneyland and spending Christmas day on an Australian beach.

The poll of 2,000 adults discovered that many Brits fantasise about ice skating at New York's Rockefeller Center, while others picture themselves attending Midnight Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.

According to the survey, a third of Brits would be thrilled to receive an experience gift on Christmas Day as the majority expressed they would prefer an experience over a physical gift.

Over three quarters agreed that Christmas time is the ideal period for creating lasting memories with friends and family by experiencing something totally unique.

A spokesperson for Red Letter Days, which commissioned the research, stated: "Christmas bucket lists are becoming an increasingly popular trend as people seek to make their festive season more magical."

"A lot of this stems from a growing desire to experience new traditions and create lasting memories with their families," they added.

On average, Brits have five items on their December bucket lists which they are determined to experience one day. A third even expressed they'd love to experience a unique staycation in the UK.

It's no wonder then that the number one experience on Britain's bucket list is to have a white Christmas here in the UK.

"While some of these experiences may be closer to home than others, there's Christmas magic to be found all over the world, from snowy European markets to tropical celebrations abroad," said the spokesperson.

The survey revealed that 39% are keen to create special memories with loved ones, while three in 10 are excited to experience new traditions.

Half are looking forward to sharing these magical moments with their partner, while 36% plan to do so with their children.

The Red Letter Days spokesperson further commented: "There's been a noticeable shift in the types of gifts people are hoping to receive at Christmas."

"With more favouring an experience over traditional presents, there's a growing appeal of giving something which will be truly memorable."
