Comic Relief have raised millions for charity as they brought the laughs on Red Nose Day.

Presenters including Paddy McGuiness, Alesha Dixon, Lenny Henry and David Tennant fronted the main show for the BBC today, where millions picked up their phones to donate money to the worthwhile cause.

There were sketches from the likes of David Walliams and Matt Lucas - who reunited for a special Rock Profile sketch, as well as the iconic Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, who teamed up with The Repair Shop's Jay Blades and Hollywood star Judi Dench.

Tom Daley and Jordan North - who took on special Comic Relief challenges - also found out how much they had raised.

At the end of the main show, which aired on BBC One, it was revealed that the general public have raised a huge £42,790,147.00 to support some of the most vulnerable people in both the UK and the rest of the world, as well as Ukraine.

Donations still continue to flood in overnight.

As part of that, Olympic diver Tom Daley raised over £1million by swimming, running, cycling and rowing as part of a huge sporting event, where he confessed he was terrified of open water.

"Swimming in water, in a normal pool you can look down and see the black lines, you just see darkness beneath you and it was 5.3 degrees I think on that day, which is about two or three degrees colder than what cold water comes out of your tap at," he said.

Jordan North also rose over £800,000 for his amazing rowing feat, where he rowed around eight hours each day, all the way from London to his beloved 'happy place' of Turf Moor in Burnley, a journey of over 100 miles.

The Comic Opera also returned, with Helen George, Tamzin Outhwaite, Nina Wadia, Rosie Jones and Scarlett Moffatt gave it their best shot at singing opera after just 24 hours of practice, performing at the iconic London Coliseum.

Comic Relief co-founder Sir Lenny Henry has spoken of the importance of the charity, especially at a time like this.

Writing for The Daily Mirror, he shared: "Every year the ability of our nation to unite behind a night of laughter and merriment to raise money for a good cause, particularly in times of crisis, continues to still blow me away.

"Red Nose Day is back and there are plenty of surprises in store. This includes a silly number of stars lined up to entertain all of you at home, plus great hosts including me, Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Alesha Dixon and more."
