The Chase viewers were left smitten with the show's "oldest ever contestant" as Bradley Walsh couldn't help but praise her.
The popular ITV quiz show featured four new contestants on Thursday (April 4), with Bradley introducing Colin, Tom, Ria, and the standout player, Margot, who immediately captured everyone's attention. As they prepared to face off against Jenny Ryan, aka The Vixen, it was nonagenarian Margot who stole the spotlight. Revealing her age, she said: "I'm Margot, I'm 91 and I'm a psychotherapist from Maidenhead."
The fact that it was also her birthday only added to the buzz around her appearance. Social media users, particularly on X, previously known as Twitter, were quick to express their admiration. One user exclaimed: "Margot looks amazing for 90, so glamorous."
Another questioned: "She has to be the oldest person on the show?" And a third admirer wrote: "If I live to be 91 I want to be like Margot. Looks amazing and still working. Good on her!" Another penned: "#TheChase someone buy Margot a smart TV please - not much to ask for on your 91st birthday glammed up to the nines."
"Margot (91) Follow Mirror Celebs onTikTok,Snapchat,Instagram,Twitter,Facebook,YouTubeandThreads.possibly the oldest ever contestant?? Would have been nice if it had given her the big screen tele or at least a birthday cake #TheChase," tweeted a fourth. Before a fifth commented: "I hope the TV people threw in a telly for Margot’s birthday #thechase."
Bradley himself was charmed by Margot, telling her during the game: "I've got to say, it's a thrill having you here. Really, really brilliant! " Margot went on to share her fascinating backstory, including her move from Germany to East London in 1939, and her plans to splurge on a "nice big telly" should she win any cash.
The final round of the quiz show saw Colin, Tom, Ria and Margot play for an eye-watering £37,000. The quartet went on to answer an impressive 22 questions correctly before Jenny returned in a bid to beat them. Sadly, Jenny managed to catch the group with just three seconds left, meaning they went home empty-handed.
A stunned Bradley Walsh commented: "That was unbelievable." During her appearance on the programme, Margot referenced her 2014 book, Vintage 1930 – Still Here. According to Amazon, the book focuses on Margot's life, having been born into a Jewish family in Nazi Germany.
It added that when published when she was 82, Margot still remained active and often enjoyed Zumba classes, as well as daily swimming and still working as a counsellor.
