The Chase star Shaun Wallace admitted he doesn't feel bad when he stops celebrities from winning the jackpot for their chosen charities.

The ITV quiz show is hosted by Bradley Wash and sees contestants take on Chasers Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Mark 'The Beat' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha and Darragh 'The Menace'.

Contestants take on one Chaser as a team on The Chase or one player can take on several Chasers for huge sums of money on Beat the Chasers, and the format stays the same for celebrity editions of the shows. The only difference being that Bradley hands out £1,000 each to the celebrities' chosen charities if they fail to win.

Speaking to the Mirror, Darragh admitted he “felt bad” when he prevented a celebrity from winning a huge prize for their chosen charity, but Shaun took a rather different approach. The Menace said: "I feel bad for the celeb show sometimes because a lot of the time you're doing this for really good charities,” before Shaun added: “And I don’t [feel bad]!”

“I only feel bad afterwards,” Darragh continued. “I'm still desperately trying to win and when I do I go, ‘Yay this is great’ and then I feel a bit bad.

"But there is an angle to this I was on the show as a contestant and won. If you’re on the show and you have a little bit of luck, and if you're good enough, you will win because despite what people think it's actually pitched slightly against us and slightly towards the contestants."

Although Shaun doesn't show his opponents any mercy, he revealed he always makes time for them after the game has come to an end. He said: "Prior to Covid, I was the only Chaser to go and see the contestants, whether they win or lose, I would commiserate if they lost and congratulate if they won.

"I remember I caught one with about a second to go and they had £100,000 in the pot. But they came here with nothing and they left with nothing."

The Chasers went on to reveal an unusual filming secret that fans of Beat the Chasers would be surprised to learn. The Menace revealed: "Because viewers can't see behind the desk and we don't have to walk on I get to wear comfy shoes."

"Me like an idiot was wearing my 'Chase' shoes and because I've only walked up and down the walkway in them however many number of times, they're not worn in and still pinch my feet. I thought to myself, 'What am I doing?' I saw [Shaun] and Jenny walk on in trainers so now I wear trainers," he added.

Beat the Chasers is back airing every Friday at 9 pm on ITV and ITVX
