Former Tory minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg is now the star of a reality TV series that delves into his home and family life.

Meet the Rees-Moggs, currently available on Discovery+, offers an intimate look at his life in the run-up to the 2024 General Election, where he lost his North East Somerset seat to Labour.

The four-part series features Rees-Mogg, formerly the Minister for Brexit Opportunities, alongside his wife Helena, their six children and the extensive staff who manage his household. Audiences will witness his campaign efforts in Somerset and gain exclusive access to his rural home, the Grade II-listed Gournay Court.

Given his extravagant lifestyle, many viewers may find themselves questioning Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg's net worth? How did he amass his wealth and how affluent is his wife? Here's all you need to know. Estimating Rees-Mogg's wealth can be a complex task due to several factors, reports Somerset Live.

Consideration must be given to his fund management firm, Somerset Capital Management, and his property portfolio. His reported net worth also takes into account his wife's anticipated inheritance.

As per politics.co.uk, Spear's Wealth Management suggested that Jacob Rees-Mogg's net worth was "well over £100 million" in 2019. Some estimates place it between £100 million and £150 million.

Rees-Mogg started his career in pension fund management before co-founding his firm, which is estimated to manage £5.5bn of funds for investors. Although he's no longer the CEO, it's believed that he still earns an income from the company.

The Tory MP also boasts a substantial property portfolio. Reports suggest that he declared ownership of farmland and properties in Somerset and London as an MP.

He owns a five-storey Mayfair townhouse, purchased for over £5.6 million, with an additional £6 million spent on renovations.

There was a bit of a stir when it was revealed that the renovation costs were covered by loans from one of his companies, Saliston. However, an investigation concluded that these loans didn't need to be registered.

Saliston also holds the freehold on a Pall Mall property, reportedly worth £4 million. Rees-Mogg bought his Somerset mansion, featured in the reality show, for just under £3 million in 2010.

Rees-Mogg is married to Helena de Chair, daughter of poet and politician Somerset de Chair. She's set to inherit around £45 million, significantly boosting her husband's net worth.

Despite criticism for being out of touch during his political career, Rees-Mogg has hinted at his privileged lifestyle ahead of the new reality series release.

He expressed: "I was completely indulged by my nanny [as a child] and now my good wife, so I'm not going to complain about the good fortune I've had!"
