Sister Boniface star Max Brown has had an extensive TV career thanks to big roles in Spooks and The Tudors. The English actor currently plays DI Sam Gillespie in 1960s mystery drama Sister Boniface Mysteries, with the crime-solving nun at the forefront of helping police forensics in crimes across the fictional town of Great Slaughter.

Early life and career
Max Brown was born in Yorkshire but largely grew up in Shrewsbury alongside his two sisters Chloe and Phoebe. He wanted to become an actor from an early age and regularly performed at the local Music Hall in the Shropshire town.
In his twenties, he broke through as heartthrob Danny Hartson in the 25th series of CBBC series Grange Hill before he played the charming man Kristian Hargreaves in Hollyoaks. He later appeared as Mark Russell in the ITV revival of Crossroads.
Max also made appearances as Mark Russell in Crossroads, as well as episodes of Casualty, Doctors and ITV drama Heartbeat.

The actor went on to play dastardly Edward Seymour, the powerhungry elder brother of Henry VIII's third wife Jane, in BBC drama The Tudors.
In 2010, he was cast as MI5 Piracy and Terrorism Case Officer Dimitri Levendis in the BBC One drama series Spooks until its final season in 2011. He originated the role of Adam Wainwright in Foyle's War, though the role needed to be re-cast when Brown moved to the United States.
Max made his US breakthrough with Beauty & the Beast, where he appeared as Evan Marks for 18 episodes. He later appeared as Orion in Sleepy Hollow.

Brown married his first wife Pollyanna Rose in 2005 but they divorced in 2008.
Four years later, Max Brown married model and former Sherborne Girls' School student Annabelle Horsey at Sherborne Abbey in Dorset. He first met Miss Horsey, a Clarins model and qualified chef, in a pub in London.
At their wedding, the guest list included comedian David Walliams and radio DJ and presenter Fearne Cotton. Max and Annabelle have two daughters and a son together.
On his wedding anniversary in 2023, Max shared: "11 years of marriage to this wonderful women. I knew I was lucky when you said Yes but I never imagined how incredible our life would be together with our beautiful family.
"You are my everything!"
