Dan Walker has made fans emotional by paying tribute to his wife Sarah on Strictly Come Dancing.

For Week 5 of the BBC One show’s 19th series, Dan and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova danced the Viennese Waltz to Billy Joel’s She’s Always a Woman.

The song is one of the favourites of Dan’s beloved wife Sarah who he first met at Sheffield University when they were students.

They now share three children together, with Sarah bringing them to the training room to get a first look at the dance.

After the dance on Saturday, BBC Breakfast presenter Dan and Nadiya scored four 7s from the judges, scoring 28 points.

When speaking to presenter Claudia Winkleman, Dan paid tribute to Sarah who was sat in the live studio audience watching.

Dan said: “Sarah thankfully is here tonight, you saw her come to training this week. I’m going to gush over her for the moment.

“She is one of those people, the more you know her, the more you love her and I’ve known her and loved her for over half my life.”

He added: “She’s absolutely amazing, she’s a special person and I love her to bits and I hope she enjoyed that.”

Nadiya also praised Dan and revealed how grateful she was to work with him and dance to that song.

Naturally, viewers were total fans of Dan’s sweet comments about his wife Sarah after they danced on the show to her favourite song.

One Strictly Come Dancing fan wrote on Twitter : “OMG, Dan Walker has such an ADORABLE family, he loves his wife and isn't afraid to say so on national TV and he can waltz! Just the sort of heartwarming stuff we all need at the moment. Also, cute doggo! #Strictly2021 #Strictly ”.

A different person tweeted: “Dan what a beautiful thing to say about your wife #Strictly ”.

Meanwhile, another fan of the show commented: “DAN TALKING ABOUT HIS WIFE HAS ABSOLUTELY FINISHED ME AND WE’RE ONLY TEN MINUTES IN #strictly ”.
