A suspicious package left outside the Orange Fire Department Station Headquarters forced the temporary evacuation of the building, but was determined to be a false alarm, Deputy Fire Marshal Robert Prendergast said Wednesday, May 22.

Personnel temporarily evacuated the building for precautionary measures, after the package was found around 1:08 p.m. in front of the fire station on 1176 East Chapman Avenue. The Orange Police Department and Orange County Sheriff Department’s Bomb Squad responded to the scene and concluded the incident was a false alarm, Prendergast said.

The package contained what appeared to be an aerosol spray can, Orange Police Lt. Phil McMullin said.

Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s Hazmat Team was also dispatched to the scene. No further details were available.
