Liam Payne's funeral service on Wednesday 20 November revealed a touching final act of kindness from the star. The order of service included a heartfelt request for attendees to make a donation to Great Ormond Street children's hospital, reflecting Liam's charitable spirit in his final weeks when he was known to have contributed to fundraisers for sick children.
The booklet read: "Thank you for attending the service and thank you for all the kind messages received. Liam would like you to make a donation. In memory of Liam we'd like you to consider Great Ormond Street Hospital, " alongside a link to the foundation's page. Louis Tomlinson was spotted clutching the order of service, taking a moment to himself after bidding farewell to his friend and former One Direction bandmate.
It was announced last month that Liam tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. An investigation into his death has been ongoing. Argentine prosecutors have reportedly dismissed the speculation that he took his own life, stating in a recently released English-translated statement: "In the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing and could not understand it."
The funeral service concluded around 2pm on Wednesday, with mourners seen gathered outside the church in a touching display of sorrow. Former One Direction bandmates stood together as they comforted each other after the service, with Simon Cowell offering solace to friends and family, reports the Mirror.
Fans had earlier filled the streets to pay their respects to Liam, who had clearly touched many lives. They also congregated around the church, holding photos and flowers as they bid farewell to the star.
The service included special touches to honour Liam's memory, alongside traditional flower displays and candles. One such personal tribute was a floral design depicting bowling pins being struck by a ball, crafted from fresh flowers. While it may seem unusual on such a sombre day, the design affectionately refers to Liam's well-known love of bowling. The artist celebrated his 31st birthday bowling with his family on the 29th August, just weeks before his tragic death in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Liam's ex Cheryl, mother to their seven year old son Bear, was also spotted leaving the service, her face marked with grief after supporting her child on such a heartbreaking day. Other celebrities in attendance included James Corden, Rochelle and Marvin Humes, and Cheryl's Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.
