Meghan Markle's estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, has aired her grievances, expressing her dismay at the way she feels Meghan has disrespected the Royal Family. At 60 years old, Samantha is feeling the weight of their fractured relationship and points the finger at Meghan's nuptials with Prince Harry for the tension within their family dynamic – including the connection with their late mother Roslyn, who sadly died in early October.
Opening up for the first time since her mother's death, an emotional Samantha struggled to hold back her emotions as she reflected: "Meghan has no idea what she is missing out on because when my dad (Thomas) goes, it will be too late. Believe me, I know. You can't get back that time. It leaves a hole in your heart."
She went on to say, "I don't know the Royal Family. I'm just a human, watching from across the pond, but I couldn't believe it... My dad doesn't want Meghan to pay him back. But you want love from them because there is a pain in your heart if it isn't there. I didn't want my mom to die feeling she was alone, and not loved. I almost left it too late. They could both learn from me."
As Meghan and Harry's engagement cast the spotlight onto the alleged issues within the Markle household, Samantha now watches with concern, particularly for their father Thomas, 80, who has sadly experienced two heart attacks and a stroke in recent times, leaving her anxious about how much time he may have left.
Samantha spoke candidly about the hurt she felt when her half-sister Meghan referred to Prince Harry's family as the big family she "never had". However, Meghan and Harry stepped down from their Royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the US, after which Meghan gave several scathing interviews about the Royal Family, including a reenactment of a curtsey to the Queen in their Netflix series, reports the Daily Star.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Samantha expressed her disappointment, stating: "I never thought I would see Meghan do what she has done to the Royal Family. She's done what she did to her own family to so many other people, too. I knew my dad had suffered, but I thought she would stop at the Queen."
Samantha also accused Harry of allowing Meghan to "mock" the late monarch. Despite their current strained relationship, Samantha and Meghan were reportedly close during their childhood.
Samantha is now encouraging Meghan to reach out to their father, Thomas, but remains skeptical about a potential reunion, saying: "If you accept an olive branch, you are asking to be hurt again. I think that would be weird. It would be hard to trust that she was doing it for the right reasons. I think what makes me sad now is there were so many missed opportunities for love and real family."
