This year’s Cheltenham Festival is already in full swing, and as predicted Zara Tindall has been leading the pack with her chic countryside outfits. The Royal is known for her timeless elegant looks, and the prestigious racing festival is the perfect place to show them off.
One of our favourite outfits of hers from the event included the Italian Manteco Wool Blend Cape Sleeve Belted Coat, £185 here (was £369), from British brand Karen Millen. The high street fave has proven popular with plenty of celebrities including Josie Gibson and Amanda Holden recently, so it’s no surprise that Zara’s elegant cape-style coat also hails from the brand.
The cape has a double breasted, trench coat-style design with oversized lapels and a maxi length that’s perfect for the unpredictable spring weather. It also comes with an adjustable tie belt to help cinch in your waist and create definition.
Its satin storm flap details add a hint of sophistication, and its 70% wool material means it can be worn during the colder months to keep the chill at bay, whilst the sleeveless design means it's a great layer for warmer seasons – truly a does-it-all piece.
Although Zara’s exact navy version of the coat is now sold out online, you can still shop the camel version on Karen Millen’s website, and we happen to think it’s just as – if not more – timeless. A camel coat is often considered a staple item when it comes to creating a capsule wardrobe, and it can be paired with just about anything.
Copy Zara’s style and wear it with a head-to-toe tonal look for a country-chic ensemble, or team it with your favourite jeans and a pair of colourful trainers for a more casual, springtime vibe. You can even wear it layered over a cocktail dress or maxi skirt with heels to add some warmth for an evening do.
If you’ve got your heart set on the navy colourway, River Island’s Navy Double Collar Belted Trench Coat, £90 here, is a great alternative. Although it doesn’t have the same sleeveless cape-inspired design as Zara’s Karen Millen one, it does have a classic trench coat look with a double breasted, double collared neckline, a longline length and a detachable tie waist belt.
It’s also easy to style, and the perfect timeless addition to your wardrobe, making it a great pick for spring. If you want more outfit inspo for this year’s Cheltenham Festival, you can also head here to shop Zara’s go-to fedoras for the event.
