He landed some minor acting roles before switching to comedy
Back in the early 2000s, Gloucestershire born Joel began his showbiz career like most - taking on extra roles/small parts in popular TV shows like Casualty and Inspector Lynley. Plus, as we mentioned before, his small stint in The Golden Hour.
Joel also acted in the Rikki Beadle Blair plays Bashment and Stonewall in 2005 and 2007.
Following his smaller parts, Joel began to slowly but surely climb the acting ladder, going on to star in E4's Skins as D.C. Sweeney, not to mention his six episode stint in BBC Two's Popatron.
Elsewhere, Joel made his movie debut in 2008 when he played a small role as a train soldier in the war film The Edge of Love, which starred Hollywood actors Kiera Knightley and Sienna Miller.
He moved into comedy and found his feet
Early on in his comedy career, Joel performed stand up gigs all over the world. His first stand up show was in Los Angeles, and following this, went on to perform in places like Reykjavik and the Netherlands.
In 2011, he had his first big comedy break, when he was asked to perform on Russell Howard's Good News. The same year, he also hosted Live in Chelsea - Made in Chelsea's live discussion show, which chatted about the events of the reality show.
Then, between 2012 and 2014, he appeared in BBC Three's Impractical Jokers in the first two series.
One year later, in 2015, Joel became a team captain on the ITV2 comedy show, Reality Bites.

Joel juggles his career with his family life
Aside from being a super successful comedian and TV host, Joel is also a husband and now - a new doting father.
Joel married his wife Hannah Cooper in 2019, after they began dating in 2016.
The two also host their own podcast, 'Never Have I Ever', which basically sees them trying things they've never tried before.
Most recently though, Hannah gave birth to the couple's first child, a son, who they named Wilde Cooper-Dommett.
The couple announced the birth in September, and since then, Joel has posted plenty of sweet father son snaps to his grid.
