When Luca Toolan landed the role of Mason Radcliffe on Coronation Street, he was thrust into the thick of the drama. His character, a bully and troublemaker, clashed with Liam Connor and Dylan Wilson, leaving a lasting impression on the cobbles.
Luca, 19, was thrilled to join the soap, calling it an "amazing" opportunity. As it turns out, he's no stranger to the world of entertainment, being the son of renowned radio DJ Mike Toolan. Mike is a familiar voice on The Hits Radio, where he's often joined by former soap star Gemma Atkinson. The father-son duo appears to be close, with Luca frequently sharing photos of them together on social media.
In fact, Mike was the first person Luca called when he found out he'd landed the role, and the proud dad even shared the news with his listeners, saying: "Luca has been unveiled as the new baddie (Mason) on Coronation Street. Absolute dream come 'true' for him. Liam McCheyne and all the amazing Corrie cast and crew have made him feel so at home."
Luca not only shares a close relationship with his father but also keeps his fans updated with his off-screen life. He's quite active on social media, posting pictures of luxurious family vacations and lively nights out in the capital. In a recent series of posts, he documented his escapades in Cannes, including jet skiing adventures, reports Lancs Live.
Reflecting on his time at Coronation Street, Luca expressed his gratitude towards his co-stars and the welcoming atmosphere on set. He remarked: "It really is amazing. I feel very lucky because I've had Liam with me and he's been like an older brother to me, even though he's actually younger than me."
The 19 year old actor continued to praise his colleagues, before adding: "He's such a nice dude and he's really walked me through everything, showed me where the teas are and the cups and what have you, and he's made it a lot easier. If I was going in on a storyline by myself, I feel like it'd be a lot more daunting, but everybody's so nice. I didn't know what to expect, but everybody's genuinely lovely."
